Heavy fighting in Sirte leave thousands of people dead, including over a 1000 children

Sirte, Libya - The news from Libya is not good. The latest casualty counts coming from Sirte makes that very plain. Recent reports suggest almost every single neighborhood in the city of Sirte has been hit by US/NATO bombs. The city is completely devastated.

Rescuers in Sirte that attempt to save others buried under the rubble or deal with casualties are then summarily bombed or strafed by NATO helicopter pilots, who make no distintion between combatants and non combatants.

Did the UN give NATO the right to do this?

Russian newspapers are reporting that the US led NATO "genocidal" continuous bombing has managed to "exterminate 2 percent of the city of Sirte, including 1,000 children."

You read reports like this and you wonder what is going on here? I thought the mission was to protect civilians not kill them.

Another mystery is why so-called mainstream media is sources in the US are not reporting this? I suppose it is not politically correct to do so.

I am also getting reports from Tunisia that British SAS (Special Air Service) soldiers have been captured and killed in Sirte? This has been confirmed by various sources in Russia. Resistance fighters are reported to have killed 16 of them and took 44 of them as prisoners. This is a violation of the UN Resolutions 1970 and 1973 that clearly state, "no boots on the ground."

Some confidential Military sources say that the SAS is there on special mission to find Muammar Gaddafi and kill or capture him.

Recent intelligence reports indicate they may have him trapped in Sirte. Others say that NATO is grasping at straws here.

A few say Gaddafi is rumored to be in Tripoli. These are all unconfirmed reports. With SAS on the ground in Sirte indicates that the British believe he is in this area. Sirte has been completely cut off. With reports of heavy fighting all around.

Another concern is obviously the civilians trapped here. Especially innocent woman and children. Many fear the NATO back rebel forces, which have set up roadblocks on the major roads leading out of town to prevent people from escaping. This had led to people becoming desperate in some cases, with reports of civilians getting involved in the fight to protect themselves and their families. These people, mostly civilians are fighting to the death. They are fighting on "death ground" according to the ancient Chinese philosopher Sun TzuSun Tzu in the book "The Art of War. What choice do they have? Those who try to surrender are brutalized, tortured and killed by the rebels and NATO back terrorists.

The rebels are a rag tag group of ex military, terrorists and Islamic extremists armed to the teeth in many cases by the United States and its NATO allies. These are not professional troops.

Human rights abuses are rampant in Libya right now, being committed by the NTC. See special Amnesty International report http://www.amnesty.org/sites/impact.amnesty.org/files/PUBLIC/mde190362011en.pdf

That coalition troops I think are desperate for a success to make it seem that the war is winnable here. "With Gaddafi out there somewhere it makes it difficult to claim victory", said one special operations source who wished not to be identified in this report. “he still enjoys wide spread support in the country. This may have to do with people’s resentment over the relentless NATO bombing campaign”, he said.
