The number of dollar millionaires in Russia set a new record

From the report of the World Wealth Report, prepared by the financial company Capgemini, it follows that the number of dollar millionaires in Russia over the past year increased by 4% and amounted to 189.5 thousand people.

This is a record indicator of HNWI (High Net Worth Individuals, persons with the highest personal statuses) since 2008 (at that time in Russia there were half of them - only 97.1 thousand people). The cumulative state of dollar millionaires in Russia for 2017 grew by 5.2%, writes RBC.

However, the growth rate was lower than the world average, the newspaper notes. The result of the Russian Federation is more than two times lower than the world average (+ 9.5%, from 16.515 million to 18.1 million) and five times lower than in India (+ 20%, from 219 thousand to 263 thousand, the number of millionaires in the Netherlands).

Among the 25 countries leading in the number of millionaires, their number in 2017 grew only in the UK (+ 1%) and Saudi Arabia (+ 2%) more slowly than in Russia.

According to the total number of millionaires, Russia ranks 15th in the world, overtaking Saudi Arabia (179,000), Brazil (171,000) and Norway (170,000).

Undisputed leader in the number of HNWI are the United States, where by the end of 2017 there were 5.285 million people (+ 10% compared to 2016). In addition, the top three included Japan (3.162 million, + 9%) and Germany (1.365 million, + 7%).

The overall state of dollar millionaires of the world for the year increased by 10.6% and for the first time in history exceeded $ 70 trillion, reaching $ 70.2 trillion.
