The 9/11 Living Memorial Plaza commemorating the victims who died in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, is made partially from steel taken from the wreckage of the Twin Towers and is the only memorial outside the U.S. that includes the names of all who perished in the attacks.

The 9/11 Living Memorial Plaza, completed in 2009 for $2 million, sits on five acres of hillside, 20 miles from the center of Jerusalem.

The memorial is a 30-foot, bronze American flag that forms the shape of a flame to commemorate the flames of the Twin Towers. 9/11 memorial in Israel

 

 
The base of the monument is made of melted steel from the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

“This metal remnant was taken from the remains of the Twin Towers, that imploded on September 11th disaster. It was sent over to Israel by the City of New York to be incorperated in this memorial. This metal piece, like the entire monument, is a manifestation of the special relationship between New York and Jerusalem.”

It is called the 9/11 Living Memorial Plaza.

 

Сооружение было закончено в 2009 году и стоило 2 миллиона долларов. Участок в 5 акров расположен на вершине холма в 20 милях от центра Иерусалима.

 

Этот мемориал высотой в 30 футов - бронзовый американский флаг.

 

Его формы, напоминающие взметнувшееся пламя, напоминают огонь, уничтоживший Башни-Близнецы.

 

Основание монумента сделано из стали, взятой из руин Всемирного  Торгового Центра в Нью Йорке

 

Всё, что выгравировано на монументе, написано и на иврите, и на английском. 

 

 

"Этот металл - останки, взятые из того, что было когда-то Башнями-близхнецами, которые были взорваны вовремя катастрофы, случившейся 11-го сентября. Он был послан в  Израиль городом Нью Йорком, чтобы стать частью мемориала. Этот кусок металла, как и весь монумент- это манифестация особых отношений между Нью Йорком и Иерусалимом."

 

Монумент окружают памятные доски, на которых выбиты имена всех жертв 11 сентября.

 

Это единственный в мире мемориал за пределами США, который включил всех, кто погиб в террористической атаке.

 

 

Включены также и 5 граждан Израиля, погибшие в тот день.

 

С участка мемориала открывается вид на самое большое кладбище Иерусалима Хар ХаМенухот. 

 

Здесь часто проходят памятные церемонии и похоронные службы.
