Get closer to nature on free wildlife walks

FREE wildlife walks will take place at Scunthorpe's Pink Pig Farm to enable local people to spot the many creatures making their home there.

Since January, almost 60 different species of birds have been spotted around the farm, including barn owls, buzzards, marsh harriers and kingfishers.

Rabbits, foxes, deer and smaller mammals, such as woodmice and voles, have also been seen.

Starting on Saturday, March 13, the Pink Pig Farm in Bottesford will offer guided walks, where walkers can learn more about the farm and register their sightings on the cafe notice board as Replica watches part of a local bird survey.

The walks take about 40 minutes, but they are not suitable for prams or wheelchairs. Dogs on leads are welcome.

The farm has also created a dedicated wildlife area, including a Bug Hotel, hedgehog houses, butterfly bushes and a wild bird feeding station.

Following their exertions, walkers are welcome to treat themselves in the award-winning cafe, or purchase some of the delicious treats available in the award-winning farm shop.
