Bjorn Nyland, a programmer at the University of Oslo and a Tesla Motors Inc. aficionado, has claimed a record for his Model S sedan, driving nearly 453 miles before it ran out of juice — about 80% farther than what the company claims is the car’s usual range.

Nyland and a friend started and ended their trip at a Tesla supercharger station in Denmark. They said they were able to drive 452.8 miles on a single charge, slowly making their way across the flat Danish countryside. Tesla  says the Model S has a range of 253 miles.

Nyland documented his junket in a video uploaded in his YouTube channel and tweeted out his claim:
