Она родилась в 1927 году в Hareskovby, и с детства отличалась красотой. Когда ее голову увенчали короной победительницы конкурса красоты, присвоив ей титул «Мисс Дания – 1952», она с легкостью покинула родные пенаты и отправилась в Голливуд. И не прогадала.

Карьера в кино первоначально не задалась, не получалась у красивой блондинки, но дублером Монро она была, и не раз: в фильмах "Обвиняемый в убийстве" и "Террор - это человек , три блондинки в его жизни и путешествие на седьмую планету".

Но все было не так уж и плохо с ее артистизмом – вскоре она начала сниматься в сериалах «Драгнет» и «Отец холостяка». Были еще фильмы – триллеры, ужасы, фантастика. фентези, а в 1967 году Грета Тиссен завершила карьеру в кино.
